INTERACTIVE VIOLENCE PREVENTION ART WORKSHOP “GUNS AND BULLIES”

On Monday June 15, 2009 at 10:00 A.M.-12:00P.M.CTRIBAT Institute for Social Development Inc. will conduct an Interactive violence prevention art workshop “Guns and Bullies.” This violence prevention workshop is the first of its kind in Connecticut. This workshop will address pertinent issues and elements that create the dangerous and destructive atmosphere of Bullying with in the school culture and inappropriate behaviors that inspire interpersonal conflict among youth that transform bullying into acts of urban gun violence.
Using art as a teaching tool, approximately 25 male students of Wexler Grant Elementary school have been selected to participate in this unique workshop. Students will be taught valuable urban life skills on interpersonal conflict. They will then translate their feelings into master pieces of art by painting with acrylic paints on an 8’ by 12” canvas. Their works will then become a traveling art exhibit in Connecticut.
